Pym Technologies is a contract manufacturer for assembly line robots. The company will receive specifications from their clients, which are then fully assembled at Pym Technologies. These contracts often require no more than 5 to 10 robots, which are assembled over the course of 1-6 months due to their complexity. Hank Pym, the CEO and lead designer of Pym Technologies, notes that in the 10 year history of the company, no two orders have been the same. Every robot is heavily customized to meet the requirements of the client. While Hank designs each robot himself, his employees complete the actual assembly. There are 3 groups of employees at Pym Technologies, who all work together to produce each robot:
A. Production Machinists & Welders- these employees assemble the metal frames of the robots
B. Electronic Equipment Assemblers- these employees assemble all electronics needed for each robot (i.e.. motors, circuit boards, power supplies, etc...)
C. Software Engineers- these employees develop all software required to make each robot function.
Due to the complexity of his designs and the unique nature of each robot, Hank attributes the success of the company to the skill of his employees. Not only are they extremely skilled at their respective tasks, they are also able to adapt their work processes to each unique contract the company receives. As a result, Hank is not too concerned with the internal operations of the company. Rather, he focuses his attention on securing new clients. Hank notes that this has always been a relatively easy task given the company's reputation.
