Discussion: Research Psychologist
When conducting research, a psychologist has numerous ethical considerations that he or she must address according to the code of ethics. Some forms of research are actually forbidden. In your initial post, describe an area of borderline or actually forbidden research. Include the key aspects of the research that make a majority question its value, and present one or more reasoned arguments in favor of continued proscription of this research. Your initial post should be about 250 words.
Respond to the posts of two or more peers. Describe a group who might benefit from this research if it was performed. For the balance of your response, write from the perspective of an individual from this group, presenting reasoned arguments in favor of the research. Be aware that this may be a challenging discussion response. As you write, be sure to show sensitivity to your readers who may find some appeals offensive. Your goal is to present your minority viewpoint without offending the majority. If you feel unable to do so for a particular type of forbidden research, pick a different peer's post on which to respond.
The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
