Imagine that you were accepted into the clinical internship. It's a relief! There are three interns from various graduate programs, and a staff of 10 therapists who trained in social work, counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, and psychiatry. In your interview you demonstrated accurate knowledge about personality theory relevant to clients and clarity about your professional goals. Your internship requires you to see clients, complete case paperwork, attend staff consultations, and private supervision with the director. For the next 7 weeks you must demonstrate that they made the right decision to select you out of 25 other candidates. TASK: Your first staff presentation. As a new intern you are asked to present to staff your conceptualization of a client from a psychoanalytic perspective. Your time is limited to 20 minutes. You must be concise and accurate. You are very mindful that everyone on staff already understands psychodynamic, psychoanalytic theory, especially early Freudian theory. They want to know what you know. As an intern you won't go into detail or give them a paragraph copied from some web site or book. Don't insult them. That would be embarrassing. They want to see if you know what it means to be
