Defining young modulus-poisson ratio and bernoulli theorem

Question1) Answer all the questions:

i) What are streamline flow and turbulent flow. Draw diagrams for each.

ii) Write down clearly the assumptions which are needed to derive Bernoulli’s theorem.

iii) Draw the picture of intermolecular attraction in liquid and on liquid surface to explain the phenomenon of surface tension.

iv) Write the general definition of an elastic modulus. From there define young’s modulus. What is Poisson’s ratio?

v) Which of the following two archways could be built bigger and why -

a) Post and beam (Π)

b) Semi circular (∩∩)

Question2) For an inelastic collision between two particles of mass m1 and m2. Compute the fractional kinetic energy lost.

Question3) Show that for the system of particles, total angular momentum is the sum of angular momentum of individual particles around the centre of mass.

Question4) Compute the moment of inertia of a thin rectangular disk with sides ‘a’ and ‘b’ about the axis perpendicular to disk and passing through its centre.
