Define your research puzzle it should be something that you

Consider a potential social science research project that you would like to conduct.

1. The research project I will be aimed at examining is the prevalence of obesity among children in America.

The independent variables (IV) in this research project will be the location, the type of food consumed, and engagement in physical exercise. The location in which a child lives in is likely to increase the risk of obesity; that is, children in urban areas are more likely to develop the complexity as compared to those in rural areas.

This is because, those in urban areas are more exposed to fast foods due to the busy schedules of their parents/guardian than those in rural areas. Additionally, children in urban areas enjoy luxuries such as, vehicles, bicycles, and motor bikes, and in door games, thus they do not engage in physical demanding activities.

The dependent Variables (DV) in the research project are overweight cases, obesity, and illnesses related to being overweight and obese, for example diabetes and some heart diseases. The DVs are dependent on the IVs.

It is in the event of the IVs that DVs takes place. The Intervening variables (Int. V) in the research project can include eating disorder, depression, and low self-esteem. These variables are likely to interfere with the normal eating habits of an individual causing them to eat excessively, leading to overweight cases and obesity

I would add some important AntVs: hereditary lines (if the parents are obese, too); family history (single-parent families; parents in prison, etc.); socio-economic conditions (poor vs. rich families). Just play with those variables; see which one is the most "robust."

Describe the project very briefly and then focus on the three major aspects of your project:

• Define your research puzzle. It should be something that you are curious about to explore. Consider the following model research scenario: "I boil a gallon of water in 3 minutes at the top of the Mount Washington, but it takes me 10 minutes to boil it in Miami, FL.");

• Define the research question based on the research puzzle. In the same model example above, you can come up with the following question, "Why does water boil faster at the top of a mountain than at the sea level?";

• Come up with a solid work hypothesis that would give provisional explanation(s) of the phenomena you are interested in. The following could be one of the work hypothesis in the model scenario above, "Water boils faster at lower atmospheric pressures than at higher pressure."

• Pick a theory that would provide tentative frameworks of reference for operationalization of your project. From our example, "Atmospheric pressure is important to consider in planning to boil water at different locations."

Written assignment instructions:

• Each of the section should take not more than 1-2 paragraphs.

• Please, make sure to include citations and full bibliography using APA style guidelines.

• Please, keep the length of your submissions to 2-3 pages, double-spaced.
