Decoding the unique medical needs of the amish

Problem: Answer to this discussion post. After watching the TEDx Talk Decoding the Unique Medical Needs of the Amish, I learned how much culture can play a big role in people's lives and healthcare decisions. One thing that stood out to me was how dedicated the Amish people are to their culture, traditions, and faith. Their beliefs influence many parts of their daily lives, including how they view medical care and treatment. The Amish community values simplicity, family, and religion. Even though modern healthcare is available, they often make decisions based on their cultural and religious beliefs. This reminded me that as nurses, we cannot assume every patient will think the same way or make the same choices. We have to understand and respect where people come from and what is important to them. Another thing I found interesting was how researchers have been able to study certain genetic conditions within the Amish community and develop treatments that can help not only the Amish but also other people around the world. This shows how learning about different groups can help improve healthcare for everyone. Overall, this video helped me understand the importance of cultural competence in nursing. Culture plays a major role in how people live, make decisions, and care for their health. The Amish community is a great example of people who remain strongly committed to their culture and faith. As future nurses, it is important for us to respect our patients. Need Assignment Help
