I completed my first residency this past week. We had several sessions at the residency that discussed the doctoral study. We also had an entire session dedicated to how to write the problem statement. One of keys that helped in developing the problem statement is that it must be a current business problem, and it has to be from a management prospective (Taylor, 2013).
The concept that helped me in developing the hook statement was that it has to grab the attention of the reader and cause a wow moment for the reader. Also, I wanted to cause the reader to be intrigued and excited about reading the rest of the study.
I found connections that helped verify what was discussed in my hook statement. I was able to support the hook statement in the anchor using statistics, quantities, and dollar values. My anchor statement discusses some action that proves the information in the hook statement.
My general business problem gives an overview of the business problem based on the information provided in the hook and anchor statements. The information learned in this course has been helpful in identifying business strategies that companies need in order to obtain and maintain competitive advantage (Dyer, Godfrey, Jensen, & Bryce, 2016). When companies do not have the best strategies in place, they experience different business problems.
