1. Create an Identity Map that visually depicts the various identities that make up who you are. Place your name in the center and create branches out to your identities. Your identity map can be hand drawn or made in an application like Canva, Google Slides, or PowerPoint. Be as creative as you want with how you want to represent yourself! Social identities (race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, culture, socioeconomic status, languages spoken, etc.)
Values and beliefs
Life roles (student, first-generations student employee, child, sibling, parent, etc.)
Formative experiences (anything that has happened in your life that you feel is important to who you are as a person)
Hobbies and interests
Anything else that feels important to who you are!
You may also choose to provide further context to some of your identities. For example, how does a part of your identity feel influenced by others/society? What feelings do you associate with certain parts of your identity?
2. Answer the following questions based on the creation of your Identity Map. As always, your work and responses will not be shared with the class; share as much as you are comfortable with, there are no right/wrong answers!
