Create a grouped frequency distribution table

Problem: Are artists who have suffered great upset and upheaval in their personal lives more creative than those who have not? To find out, Marie Forgeard (2013) asked people if they had experienced any traumatic events (surprisingly, almost all of them said that they had experienced at least one) and then asked them to take a series of questionnaires designed to measure a variety of cognitive and perceptual aspects of their thinking. The data shown in Table 2.19 are similar to what Professor Forgeard found. Perceived creativity increase that results from a traumatic experience is measured on an eight-item, five-point scale (1 =not at all, 5 =extremely). The higher the score on this scale, the more the participant perceived their creativity to have been changed as a result of their experience. Need Assignment Help?

A. Create a grouped frequency distribution (not a simple frequency table) for the perceived change in creativity variable, with the following parameters:

  • Each interval has a width of three
  • Interval column
  • Frequency column
  • Relative frequency column
  • Cumulative relative frequency column

B.  What is the maximum score on this scale? What is the minimum score?

C.  Forgeard (2013) concludes that while there is a tendency for creativity to be changed by the experience of a traumatic event, her results "did not show that adversity is needed for creativity" (p. 257). What possible confounding variables do you see in this study? What else, in addition to or instead of trauma, might explain her results?  Elaborate, explain, and support your answers; do not simply create a list.  Show good critical thinking.
