Considering that my problem space was initially presented with a broad topic it was integral to identify what specific areas of the problem space that needed to be refined. As the researcher, it is my responsibility to narrow the focus down on one specific area to address the problem of the study. Analyzing, summarizing, and critiquing the previous literature and exploring the limitations of the research while systematically synthesizing the material has helped to refine the problem space (Creswell & Creswell, 2023). Identifying the gap in existing literature is what helped developed my research question (Alvesson & Sandburg, 2013). Ensuring that the problem statement and the intent of the research were discussed was essential to establish the relevance of my research study.
RES-831 course of study permitted scholarly conversations and feedback among me, my peers, and the professor assisted with addressing the areas of the problem space that needed to be refined. Utilizing this iterative writing process has been helpful in building a cohesive argument within the problem space to address what is not known in the literature and how the research will contribute new insight in my field of study by aligning my problem and purpose statements (GCU, 2022; Jacobs, 2013). One suggestion I have for my peers is to continue analyzing current literature, ensure they have an awareness of alignment, and establish a cohesive argument to address the problem and need for the study.
