Generate a table and sort the individual flood flows into order of decreasing magnitude.
Rank the floods with the largest equal to 1.
Determine the recurrence interval in years for each flood using the formula
r = m + 1 / n
Where r = recurrence interval in years
m = total years of record
n = the rank of the flood
On the graph paper supplied plot the recurrence interval in years on the X axis and the
Discharge on the Y axis

3. What is the discharge of the 1 in 100 year flood if the 1911 and 1913 floods are Included in the series?
4. Determine the five year running mean for the flood series. Can you see any flood regime shifts in the curve? When will the next phase of flooding occur on the Barron River if the regime shifts follow the trend?
