Q1. Download the student version of GaBi life cycle assessment software and bring in week 3 lecture for signature. Conduct the example life cycle assessment for paper clips. Students are expected to finalise this part before coming to the second workshop on Week 3. If you come across any doubts keep it ready to ask during the second workshop. The screenshot copy will be electronically signed at the beginning of the second workshop and will contribute to 5% of the assignment mark.
Q2. Choose two products (both products should offer the same service but different quality of output) of your choice and conduct life cycle assessment using GaBi. For example, you could think of two white board markers. One can only be used for a month the other for two months.
Or one can be refilled the other cannot.
Your report should include estimated weight of each component (3%), a well-defined functional unit (3%), a balanced material flow diagram and impact analysis (3%), hot spot identification (3%), remedial measures(3%). and feasibility (3%). (Report structure will attract 5%) Student should show the workout within the class and should send screenshot to the instructor.
