Assignment:
A lecturer has noticed that their female students are much more likely to turn up to lab classes than the male students, and wants to test to see if there is any differences in the marks of the two groups of students. Conduct a structured investigation to work out whether the average marks earned by the group of male students is different to the marks earned by the group of female students. Your answer should fit on no more than one page and should include:
(i) a brief restatement of the research question
(ii) the most appropriate plot for this data structure. Think carefully about the nature of the data and the type of test you will conduct
(iii) for any test you conduct, a formal statement of a null and alternate hypothesis and the significance level that you will employ
(iv) output from the statistical analysis, conducted in R,
(v) a formal statement of the test conclusion, including the justification of your conclusion
