Procedural essay:
Compose a procedural document written in essay format. You will select a topic and your audience and compose a five paragraph essay that explains how to do something which you already do well. Using details, evidence, and precise language, empower your audience to accomplish a particular task or overcome a difficult situation.
Procedural essays teach, instruct, and tell how to do something. At the most basic level, a Procedure is a list of steps. However, at the English 4 level, you will not compose a list of steps. Instead, you will explain in a five-paragraph essay how to do something that you already do well.

Your procedural essay will include the following elements:
A standard introduction paragraph (with thesis statement/controlling idea that remains present throughout the entire essay)
Three well-developed body paragraphs (8-10 sentences each)
A conclusion that reflects on your essay and leaves the reader with a final insight
Use of 1-3 graphics (tables, images, diagrams) to facilitate reader comprehension
Select an Audience; Other HIGH school girls coming up in the ranks of play audience – write this essay with a peer, parent, teacher, or other adult in mind.
Use transitory phrases to guide readers through your ideas and to link your essay together.
Use concise, specific language. Edit for wordiness, vague words, passive voice, and unnecessary modifiers.
Use electronic and print reference materials, like dictionaries, glossaries, books of quotations, etc., as needed for comprehension, writing, or research.
