This assignment is intended to help you learn to synthesize, compare, and contrast three different instructional design models.

How do you know the syllabus, the course, or training you put together meets your learners' needs and discipline requirements? Most importantly, how do you know what they have learned? The knowledge of instructional design models will equip you to be a better professor, a better teacher, and a better trainer because you will understand how people learn and how to design an effective and efficient course. In this assignment, you will choose any three instructional design models of your preference from Modules 3 & 4 to examine. Then, you will develop a 1000- to 1500-word paper that synthesizes key information for each model. Use the following outline to structure your paper:

  • APA-Formatted Title Page
  • Development: The name(s) of the researcher(s) who developed the model.
  • Overview: The elements and basic premises of the model.
  • Design Implications: According to this model, how should instruction be designed? Give examples of how this model has been or could be applied.
  • Key Takeaways: Describe the strategies and tools you can employ in your own work.
  • Connections to Design Project: Which aspects of the model are most relevant and useful to your own design project in this course? Describe your design process, and how you can apply this instructional design model in your project.
  • Resources: For each model, find a scholarly article and a non-scholarly article (trade article, blog post, etc.) that discusses the model. Include these resources in your paper within a references page.
