The Information Supply Chain
Clearly, technological advancements have ushered in a new era of synchronization in the modern world. That said, technological mishaps come in all shapes and forms - adoption issues, implementation issues, infrastructural misfits, you name it. In the process, an entire supply chain can get stalled. Examples abound - Apple, Foxmeyer, ToysRUs, Hershey's, Adidas, and recently, if I may dare say, Wal-Mart!
- What entails such mishaps?
- Who gets the blame?
- Can technological mishaps be avoided, or are they inevitable and hence need to be accounted for in risk management?
- Use an example of a technological glitch that has impacted supply chain operations in the recent decade (cannot be any example that you come across in the prescribed readings) and discuss in the context of the aforementioned points.
