Class adverse effects of NNRTI
All NNRTIs can cause a rash that is sometimes severe. NNRTIs are metabolized by and can affect hepatic CYP 450 isozymes; drug interactions can occur with protease inhibitors and many other drugs (The Medical Letter Adverse Drug Interactions Program). Rifampin (Rifadin, and others) decreases levels of NNRTIs and should generally be avoided.
