Paper instructions:

For this paper you should discuss the role of your chosen cinematographer in the process of filmmaking, and the importance of their cinematography, describe their work (visual style etc..). You may choose from the following:

Gregg Toland, Vilmos Zsigmond, Janusz Kaminski, James Wong Howe, Roger Deakins, Vittorio Storatto, or Conrad L. Hall.

Pick one of these cinematographers. Watch at least three of that cinematographers films, give a one-page biography of the cinematographer, and then use examples from those films to discuss that cinematographers style and contribution to the art of cinematography. The paper must be 4-6 pages.

You will be graded on factual information, research, spelling, grammar, proper formatting, and citations. All papers should be written in Times New Roman 12 Point Font, black text, and double-spaced. You must use the MLA format, cite your sources within the body of the text, and include a comprehensive works cited page. If you have not previously written research papers you will need to consult an MLA style manual and you may want to consider getting a tutor.

You must use credible sources; use of Wikipedia, Dictionary.com, yahoo answers, or any source that resembles these will result in a 15-point deduction. Never use the word “I”, these are research papers not journals. All research papers must include at least three citations within the text that include direct quotes from primary sources, none of which may come from the textbook. At least one source for each research paper must come from a book. No works cited within the text will result in an automatic 10-point deduction per missing citation for a total of 30 points. No works cited page would result in an automatic 10- point deduction.
