Can a non-linear resistance device be made to seem linear

Solve the following problem:

Problem: Can a non-linear resistance device be made to seem linear by restricting the range of voltages as well as currents used? Think of the light bulb experiment.

Part A: What might happen to the plot for a linear resistor if we extended it too much, much larger values of voltage and currents?

I known the correct answer but I need to know how to get that. Thanks in advance!
