Calculate final pressure in the cylinder and heat transfer


Five Kilograms of air at 300 K is contained in a vertical cylinder by a frictionless piston of a mass such that the pressure of the air is 2 bar. Heat is transferred slowly to the air until it reaches the stops, at which point the volume inside cylinder is 3 m3. More heat is transferred to the air until the temperature becomes 1000 K. Show the processes on a P-V diagram and calculate the following

i) The final pressure in the cylinder

ii) The heat transfer and work done during each process

for air, take the specific heat at constant pressure as 1.005 kJ/kg.K
