Find two recent newspaper articles (from two months ago until now) that are topically related to the subjects we will cover in class (Business Law-the legal environment of business). Fro example, civil law, criminal law, constitutional law, administrative law, international law in a global economy, torts, intellectual property and internet law, immigration and labor law, contract performance, breach, and remedies, etc. Summarize the points of the articles, demonstrate how the articles connect to as many laws, policies, or cases that we have studied, and formulate an opinion on the issue. You can use the basic steps in legal reasoning. (1, What are the key facts and issues? 2, What rules of law apply to the case? 3, How do the rules of law apply to the particular facts and circumstances of this case? 4, What conclusion should be drawn?) Recommended sources of articles: New York Times, Wall St. Journal, or the Seattle Times. You will make a short (no more than 3 minutes) presentation to the class on your articles. You must submit the article assignment to Canvas and also include scanned copies or pdf versions of the articles at the same time.
You must use articles from an actual newspaper. Yes, you may read the newspaper online. But you may not use a news service such as Yahoo News, Reuters, or Associated Press, or Fox News.com
1. Submit a copy of your articles along with your written analysis. Copy may be a pdf or scanned version of the articles, or even cut and paste of the text. For your online submission, please include a link to the article.
2. Write a brief summary of the articles in your own words. Include who, what, where, when, why and how. A sample analysis of two articles is uploaded. Give your opinion on the issue or issues.
3. Your entire paper (on both articles) should be between 850 – 1000 words, about 4 pages, double spaced. Please use 12 point type.
