Scenario
You have been called to a school to provide consultation for a student who frequently steals and consumes food that does not belong to her. This includes going to other student's bags and desks and taking their lunch, as well as going into the teacher's "prize cabinet" and stealing the treats inside. On several occasions were she has asked to leave class to go to the bathroom, she has been found alone in the cafeteria eating the food stored there. You have determined the function of her stealing is NOT socially mediated positive reinforcement in the form of attention from others and that the most likely function is access to food. Since the teacher has 29 other students that she is responsible for, she is asking you for antecedent intervention recommendations that will make Frieda less likely to steal food.
