In a laboratory experiment, researchers and Barry University (Miami Shores, Florida) studied the rate at which sea urchins ingested turtle grass. The urchins, starved for 48 hours, were fed 5-cm. blades of green turtle grass. The mean ingestion time was found to be 2.83 hours and the standard deviation was 0.79 hour.
