Problem: Being that Russia originated as a small enclave of people and began to expand rapidly with the leadership of Peter the Great I am curious to know what may have occurred without the development of St. Petersburg. If Peter the Great were to have never built this town, how would this have impacted Russia's industrial, technological and military expansion during this time period? Do you think that Russia would be as large as it is today without the ruling of Peter the Great?
