Describe South Africa's apartheid policy of 1948.
How was it initiated? Give historical information of the time from passing of this policy till gaining independence in the year 1979.
One would suppose that since South Africa was a British colony and had an important British presence, that it would have followed the similar political course as most of England's colonies by embracing democracy and freedom. Though, when England gained control of South Africa in the year 1806, part of the surrender of control included an agreement by the British to continue to use and enforce the existing legislation that had been instituted by the Dutch. This resulted in a divergence between law in England and law in South Africa.
