When executives in charge of San Lopez's largest supermarket chain learned of Delectable's offer, they demanded $250,000 dollars to sell the peanut butter in their supermarkets, explaining that their supermarket shelves are full and that it costs them money to make room for Delectables' products. If Delectables would like to place its product at on the "eye level" shelves, that would cost an additional $25,000.

Meanwhile, Delectables learns that the head of San Lopezian security, a highly placed officer in the government, requires $100,000 in order to assure the safe passage of Delectables' goods to their intended destination in San Lopez. If the money is not paid, the goods will probably be lost, whether to thieves, calamity, or some other "tragedy," they warn. Delectables also learns that Customs officers suggest $500 each to facilitate the goods entering the country.
