Problem 2: This week we watched two YouTube videos: "Poor no More" and "Rethinking homelessness". In your own words, explain what is meant by "the underclass". What did you see in these videos, and how did they encourage you to think differently about "the underclass" (the poor and the homeless)?
Problem 3: Before taking this course and learning about the theoretical perspectives that attempt to explain youth crime, what factors did you think caused youth crime? How has your understanding of youth crime changed over the past two weeks? Which theoretical perspective would you say that you now identify with?
Problem 4: According to radical criminological theories, what role do class and power play in what is defining the types of behaviour that are "criminal"? How is this illustrated by the different responses to graffiti vs. art and property vandalism vs. environmental vandalism?
