Archeology research-studying native americans

Archeology Research:

Project instructions:

This first paper requires you to imagine that you are a professional archaeologist, studying Native Americans in the New York region who lived there prior to the sixteenth century. You have some questions in mind that you want to research concerning these people, so you need to develop a research model and then put that plan to work. Using the first nine chapters of your text book, along with the information from your lecture notes, describe the question(s) that you have and how and what steps you will take to collect and understand the data you need for your project. You will follow the scientific method as we discussed; find a research site; conduct a survey of the site; create an excavation plan; do the excavation and collect and interpret your data. Each step needs to be explained fully. For instance, what are your questions and how did you come up with them? How did you decide on the site you chose? How did you determine your survey plan? And so on. Of course you are not really going into the field to do this, so use your imagination and your knowledge from this class to put this paper together. This will be written up in a five page or longer paper, which will include a title page and references cited page which will be in addition to the five pages of text.
