"Macro solutions" is a software development company headquartered in Dubai, which has operational units in different part of the world. With the latest information technology tools, the company provides information technology services and solutions to various small, medium and large organizations all over the world. They develop customized software for various types and size of organizations in all the sectors. They successfully accomplish the work outsourced by large organizations like Google, Microsoft and Facebook. Their customers' ranges from Google, Microsoft and Facebook to even small business unit asking for IT support for their business. In order to serve the corporate customers from all over the world, the company has campus recruitment programme. The company recruit talented candidate from the university and colleges and provide them the opportunity to work in world class environment at an attractive compensation package. Most of their customers' needs are accomplished by team effort, where the members are usually from the same operational unit. When they have to serve the challenging needs of large corporate customers, the team may have members from different operational unit and they will interact with the support of technology. The company, so far has only success stories that they accomplished through their management style, where personal management has a significant role in it.

A) Assume that you are leading a team formed by the company, where members are from different operational unit located in different countries. How will you manage effective communication among your team members, without having conflict among the members?

B) As a team leader (mentioned in question A) how will you ensure group cohesiveness in your team so that the team will achieve the highest level of performance, as expected by the company management?

Question 3: Read the following case and answer the questions given at the end

ABC LTD is a large Organization in Oman. The company recruits people from different countries, who are competent enough to achieve the business goals. Hence the company could gain substantial amount of sales and profit. However, top level management of the company realized that there is a need to further improve the productivity and efficiency, which is lacking because of the lack of commitment of few organizational members. Hence the company formed a team in order to recommend the actions to be taken for improving efficiency in the company's operations. The team consisted of four members all are assistant managers from HR, production, Marketing and Finance departments. The team identified that even though the employees are competent enough, group dynamism is lacking in many functional units in the organization. In an effort to identify the reason, the team evaluated the all tactical and operational plan, with special focus on compensation plan and compared the same with the industry packages.

A) Do you think that the type of team formed by ABC LTD is the right type in order to study the problem under consideration? Justify your answer.

B) Based on the findings, recommend solutions to ABC Company for improving its productivity and efficiency.

Question 4: A group of students consisting of four members were doing their senior project. All members of the group are brilliant in studies and scored higher grades in other courses. However their project report was not as good as the project report of other groups which consisting of just average students. The members realized that although they are brilliant, as a group they failed to perform. As a member of the group, examine the reasons for the failure of your group.

Question 5: A cement manufacturing company in Salalah manufactures cement and related construction material, and sell all over the Middle East. The company has an expansion plan by which it wants to double its sales within next one year. The company has formed a team to devise marketing strategies to achieve this objective. Assume that as the marketing manager of the company, you are leading the team. Explain your strategies in developing your team in to a high-performance team.
