The Thousand and One Nights, in particular, has a wide range of views on gender roles. Analyze some examples of gender roles found in the tales, and how they are either different or similar to what our expectations might be for a work originally published in the Islamic Middle East during the Middle Ages. at least part of your response focuses on the prologue ("The Story of King Shahrayar and Shahrazad, His Vizier's Daughter) and the role that Shahrazad plays in The Thousand and One Nights.
