Hums and MacLean (2009) state that in order to run your athletic department effectively and efficiently, you must have a good understanding of two critical aspects of your organization’s structure. These two aspects are characteristics and environment.
For your assignment, you will analyze your organization, taking into consideration the nature of the organizational environment that exist. The general environment of an organization includes those sectors that, although may not have a direct impact on the operations of a sport organization, can influence the industry in general ways that ultimately have an impact on the organization. These environmental factors or sectors are the general economic conditions in which a sport organization operates, the prevailing political situation, the legal conditions surrounding the environment that are important to the operation of it, the demographics, technological developments within the field, the task environment, the domain or territory that the sport organization stakes out for itself as well as its perceived environment.
In a paper, discuss these factors and how your organization effectively deals with these environmental factors in attempting to get its market share as well as competing for success.
