Asian American literature:
Choose one of the two following topics:
1-Based upon our readings and discussions, analyze Native American “identity issues” as reflected in the texts you have read. Use examples (short quotes with page numbers identified) from the literature, to support your analysis.
2-Discuss the effects of class, social condition and violence on the identity formation and character development of one of the characters of your choice in the texts discussed in class in Units I or III (Indigenous Peoples/Mestizo or Asian/Pacific American Experience). Use examples (short quotes with page numbers identified) from the literature, to support your analysis.
3-Discuss bicultural and intergenerational conflicts as reflected in Asian American literature and how they affect identity formation. Use examples (short quotes with page numbers identified) from the literature, to support your analysis.
4. Discuss the images of war and the representations of war in two of the Francophone Canadian writers studied in class.
5. The function of promises in Scorched
6. Game of Patience: agonizing protagonists
7. Female Protagonists in Scorched and /or Game of Patience
