The discipline of sociology, and indeed all social sciences, requires one to apply systematized modes of thought in order to understand and explain social phenomena. In other words, sociological theories are important logical frameworks that allow their users to move away from individualistic approaches to explaining society and towards more objective and systematic understandings of social relations.
