OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) was created as a result of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. The mission of the organization is to oversee working conditions, ensuring that they are safe and hazard free which is a benefit to all working individuals. This is accomplished by instituting training and education. When unsafe conditions are found, citations and fines can and are handed down. OSHA is a division of the United States Department of Labor and covers both private and public-sector individuals.

OSHA exists to provide a safe work environment to all employees as well as a place to rely on if conditions are unsafe. Whistleblowers are encouraged to provide information about any company that is not in compliance. Whistleblowers often get a bad rap but in most cases, are completely necessary to ensure that the rules are being followed. OSHA recently ordered Wells Fargo to reinstate a whistleblower and pay back wages, damages and attorney’s fees. (OSHA News Release - Region 9, 2017). It is difficult to find an argument against OSHA. It is an agency entrusted with keeping workers safe from bodily harm or death which is a benefit to the work force. It offers training and assistance as needed and conducts random, unannounced site visits. It also investigates after an incident to determine what could or should have been done to prevent the incident. It is an agency that is constantly updating its policies to include modern day occurrences. It is a valuable agency that is beneficial to everyone’s bottom line.
