Assignment task: Nicki had an affair with Jerome while he was married to Meena. Nicki was devastated when Jerome broke off their relationship and she came up with a plan to scare Meena into leaving the area. She hoped this would make Jerome leave his wife and come back to her. Meena owned a beauty salon. Nicki waited outside the salon one night and noticed a figure in the dark locking up, whom she assumed was Meena. Nicki threw a hammer in her direction but missed. In fact, 'the figure in the dark' was Meena's elderly mother, Suki, who was locking up that night. Suki was so frightened that she collapsed on the street and hit her head on the kerb. Nicki saw her lying in the road and ran off. A short while later, a bus ran over Suki, killing her instantly. The bus driver was later cleared by police from any wrongdoing.
Incensed, Jerome discovered from local gossip that Nicki was responsible. Jerome went to the café where Nicki worked as a chef. Nicki was elated to see Jerome. He yelled at her: "I know what you did, you will never have me back!". Enraged, Nicki grabbed a carving knife which she waved at Jerome. Knowing what she was capable of, and in a panic, Jerome turned around and tried to run out of the café but slammed heavily into the café's glass door, breaking it, as he tried to flee. Jerome died later that day from neck injuries he sustained when colliding with the door.
