Purpose:
An argument essay sets out to persuade the reader to hold a particular view by taking him or her through a series of reasoned steps to a logical conclusion.
Introduction:

2) States your contention or main line of argument; that means your opinion should be clearly demonstrated.
Body:
1) Develops your contention through body paragraph topics and is supported with relevant examples.
2) Predicts counter arguments and rebuts them; that means you should criticize opposite arguments showing how they are inferior to your arguments.
Conclusion:
1) States the Conclusions or judgements of the writer, at which readers should also logically arrive, based on the arguments you have presented.
