A 009m diameter shaft that is 05m long and supported by

A 0.09m diameter shaft that is 0.5m long and supported by bearings at the ends is subjected to a 53kNm torque along the entire shaft. Using the tresca maximum shear stress theory, determine the Factor of Safety of the shaft. If the shaft material is a steel having yield strenght Sy = 451MPA and ultimate strenght Su = 700 MPa.

B) If the diameter is doubled with all else the same , What would happen to the stresses, increase or decrease? what will happen to the Factor of Safety, Increase or decrease and by what factor?

c)If the direction of torque was reversed the Factor of Safety would be? zero, negative, greater, same or less than in (a)?

d) if Factor of Safety in (A) was evaluated using mises max distortion energy theory instead of shear stress theory, The FOS would increase, decrease, not change, zero or become negative?
