2. Two disks, each of radius 10.0 cm, are charged so that one has a charge of +10.0 nC and the other has a charge of -10.0 nC. The disks are then placed with their flat faces facing each other so that they are separated by 20.0 cm. You will be calculating the field strength at various points between the disks for various separations of the disks. Punching new numbers into the appropriate equations will get tedious so you are advised to use a spreadsheet or Maple to save yourself some effort. You should explain what expressions you used and what values were substituted into them at each point, however.
(a) What is the electric field strength at a point exactly halfway between the two disks on their symmetry axis?
(b) What is the electric field strength between the disks at a point 5.00 cm from the positively charged disk and on its symmetry axis?
(c) The two disks can be thought of as a parallel plate capacitor. Using the formula for the electric field strength inside a parallel plate capacitor, calculate the electric field strength between the two plates. Compare this field strength with the values you obtained in a) and b). Should they agree? Explain.
