Introduction to Unified Approach to OOA

The analysis and  design tools as proposed by each  of Booch  Jacobson  and rumbaugh were different in approach. Each had  a distinct way of approaching  the analysis of the  system and each had its  own bottlenecks. As neither of the methods was efficient enough,  a new  unified approach was developed that included all the  important  features of the three methods.

The unified approach  or UML combines all the powerful  features present in  the methods of Grady  booch, james, rumbaugh and Jacobson  and thus creates a new  tool  for the  analysis and modelling of the system. So this  approach  involves the  combination  of  best  features of the individual  objects oriented analysis and design methods of Grady Booch, james ,Rumbaugh and lvar Jacobson. The result of this is  the unified modelling  language (UML) .

In UML a system  is represented  using  five different  views that  describe the system  form  different  perspectives. Each  view is defined  by a set  of diagrams. A view may be represented by  a single diagrams. The views present in UML are:
