To find the fault occurred (low sound) in an AM radio receiver and rectify.

Procedure:
1. Switch ON the receiver.
2. There is low volume in the speaker.
3. Even on raising the position of the volume control knob, the volume will not increase.
4. Thus it is confirmed, that the fault is low volume that is the live fault.
Possible Stages:
1. Power supply.
2. Audio amplifier and output.
3. IF amplifier and detector.
Testing:
1. To measure the voltage of the power supply.
2. The voltage is under 6V DC. Thus disconnect the power supply separately and then measure the voltage again. Now it depicts the correct voltage.
3. It is confirmed that the fault is occurred in audio amplifier and output stage.
4. To test the coupling condenser, it is in leakage condition. Thus disconnect the condenser and connect a new one with same value.
5. Now test the radio receiver, it will function with the high volume.
