Question 1: Build up a 3 phase, single layer concentric type of winding for a 2 pole ac machine comprising 12 slots.

Solution: Slots per pole per phase = 12/(3*2) =2

By equation, slots per pole = 12/2 = 6

By equation, angle among consecutive slots, â = 180/ slots per pole= 180/6 = 300.

The allocation of slots to the 3 phases for a pole pair is provided in the below figure, and this allocation repeats itself for other pole pairs. In this instance, the number of pole pairs is one.
