Input Signals

Introduction to Input Signals

1. Two signals are employed.

2. They are containing equal voltage (amplitude)

3. They are 1800 out of phase to each other.

The driver transformer contains two secondary coils that are wound in reverse directions. It sends the needed signals to the output transistors.

From the primary of the driver transformer AF signals is mutual initiated into the secondary. Two terminals A and B contain AF signals that are out of phase each other.

If, the top terminal A is +tive when the bottom terminal B is -tive. Hence Q2 forward biased and Q1 reverse biased. Q2 turns ON and amplifies the AF signal. If terminal A becomes -tive, then B is +tive. Therefore Q1 forward biased and Q2 reverse biased Q1 turns ON and amplifies the AF signal. Due to one transistor being pushed to ON state and another being pulled from ON condition (i.e. OFF condition) at a time, this kind of amplifier is termed as Push- Pull amplifier.

ADVANTAGES

1. The AC output is high

2. Overall efficiency is more

3. Low power consumption

4. No noise.

DISADVANTAGES

1. It is costly and bulky since it uses transformers.

2. If the two transistors are not similar, distortion occurs.

3. Distortion is more.
