Introductino to AGC Construction:

KEYED AGC CONSTRUCTION:

Only while the input video signal and fly back pulses are available and provide AGC voltage this circuit turns 'ON'. These circuit rums off during the nonexistence of the signals. These signals works like a key. Therefore this circuit is termed as keyed AGC. Fly back pulses are also known as keying pulses. Fly back pulses containing a value of 25V (p-p) from horizontal output transformer is rectified through IN4148 and a negative voltage is provided to the collector of the transistor. A negative video signal having a value of 2 V (p- p) is acquired and applied to the base of the transistor from detector stage. The positive voltage needed for the emitter is provided froni 12 Volts supply by AGC preset

CIRCUIT OPERATION:

Throughout the conduction of transistor, peak synchronizing pulses of 2V (p-p) video signal is amplified and acquired at the collector. The current flows by the diode and winding of LOT. It causes in charging of capacitor C, (because it is reverse biased). Approximately 1.5 to 4V AGC voltage is acquired.

DELAYED AGC CONSTRUCTION:

Very first, AGC voltage is applied to IF amplifier and so signal gain variations are controlled. For the highest reduction of noise, amplification in RF stage has to be highest. If a low gain RF signal is acquired, AGC voltage is delayed and then delivered to the RF amplifier. Therefore, RF signal is amplified to a maximum and noise is so reduced.

1. Noise is decreased because the transistor becomes 'on' throughout the horizontal balancing period only and at other times, it becomes 'off.

2. Because short time constant AGC capacitor, AGC voltage is acquired even if a fast variation in signal strength (interference because of the passing of aero planes) and allow RF and IF amplifier to keep in signal strength constant.
