Vivipary:

Vivipary is the special kind of seed germination. During germination, seed is still joined to parent plant and nourished by it. Vivipary usually takes place in mangrove plant. The mangrove plants are usually medium sized tree that grow in salty marshes of sea coasts. (Example: Avicennia, Rhizophora, Sonneratia and so on).The seeds of mangrove plants can’t germinate on the marshy habitat since of the excessive salt concentration and lack of oxygen. The embryo of the seed prolongs growth whereas still joined to parent plant. The radicle of the plant lengthens considerably and projects out of the fruit. The lower portion of the radicle becomes swollen and thick. Lastly, dart similar to seedling breaks off the parent plant due to its increasing weight and acquires embedded into the marsh in such a place that the plumule remains exterior the saltish water. The radicle instantly forms new roots and establishes the seedling as a fresh plant.
