This first energy generating reaction is coupled along with the next endothermic reaction making ATP. The phosphate is transmitted directly to an ADP to build ATP and this is catalysed through phosphoglycerate Kinase enzyme. Because one molecule of glucose yield 2 molecule of Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate, 2 high energy ATP are generated for one molecule of glucose.

Role of Phosphoenol pyruvate:

Phosphoenol pyruvate that is created during breakdown of glucose to lactic acid, donates the phosphate group of it to ADP in a reaction catalyzed through Pyruvate kinase. One of the phosphate groups goes through hydrolysis to create the acid and a phosphate ion, giving off energy. This first energy generating reaction is coupled along with the next endothermic reaction making ATP. The phosphate can just only available like the high energy enol form. So, while the phosphate group is removed, the pyruvate can revert back to the stable, low-energy keto form and the extra energy is released. In fact, this reaction occurs in two steps. First the enolate type of pyruvate is formed, after that the transfer of the phosphate group to ADP takes place like second step. The keto pyruvic acid might reduce to lactic acid in the lack of oxygen. Mitochondria are not included. Because one molecule of glucose yield 2 molecule of Glyceraldehyde 3 phosphate, 2 high energy ATP are generated for one molecule of glucose.

Phosphocreatine is a phosphogen and it interacts with ADP to make ATP. While ATP is more creatine reacts along with ATP and forms phosphocreatine. The enzyme included is creatine kinase. This energy transfer from creatine phosphate to ADP assists to generate ATP molecule to give energy throughout muscle contraction.
