Women must have a yearly physical exam by a physician that comprises a pelvic exam and breast exam starting in their late teens and early on twenties. All women must have their cholesterol checked every 3-5 years. A yearly mammogram is necessary after age of 40. Women over 50 require a screening colonoscopy each and every 5 year. There are many opinions regarding whether women must have a pap smear every year subsequent to hysterectomy. You must discuss your individual medical history with your doctor prior to deciding whether you must continue to get a pap smear subsequent to hysterectomy.
