Hydrostatics refers to study of the ?uid bodies which are

a) At rest
b) Moving slowly so that there is no relative motion between adjacent parts of the body.

For hydrostatic situations:

a) There are no shear stresses
b) There exist only pressure forces which act perpendicular to any of the surface.
c) It refers to a closed loop hydraulic systems. It consists of the motor and pump. Pump provides energy to the motor and the motor supply the return energy to pump supply.
