How does the amoeboid movement take place
How does the amoeboid movement take place? What are illustrations of beings and cells which use these movements for locomotion?
Expert
Amoeboid movements are made by cytoplasmic movements and plasma membrane projections termed as pseudopods. Their formation actively modifies the external shape of certain parts of the cell surface making it move all along a substratum. Pseudopods emerge from differences of viscosity between neighboring areas of cytoplasm close to the plasma membrane and from the contractile action of microfilaments.
Amoeboid movements take place, for illustration, in amoebas (that is, a protozoan), organisms which use their movement to find food. The leukocytes, cells of the immune system, whenever attracted by chemical substances (that is, immune mediators) utilize amoeboid movements to get out from capillaries in areas of tissue damage to contribute in the inflammatory process.
