How are solutions categorized along with comparative tonicity?
Expert
Comparative to another, a solution can be hypotonic (hyposmotic), isotonic (isosmotic) or hypertonic (hyperosmotic). When a solution is less concentrated than another adjective hypotonic is given and more concentrated is named as hypertonic. When two compared solutions enfold the same concentration both gets the adjective isotonic. So this categorization makes sense only for comparison of the solutions.
