What are the main kinds of endocytosis?
Expert
Endocytosis is an entrance of material in the cell engulfed by parts of the cell membrane.
Endocytosis can be categorized as phagocytosis and pinocytosis. In pinocytosis small particles on an external surface of the membrane encourage the invagination of the membrane inwards and vesicles packed of that particles then separate from the membrane and enter the cytoplasm. In phagocytosis bigger particles on an external surface of the membrane persuade the projection of pseudopods outwards enclosing the particles; the vesicle then separates from the membrane and enters the cytoplasm obtaining the name phagosome.
